"A year ago, my family was faced with the sad realization that our mother, who is suffering with dementia, was at the point in her life where she required around-the-clock care. Sadder yet, we were unable to adequately provide for her needs. The task of finding a care facility that was clean, well-kept and didn't scream nursing home with a well-trained, compassionate and professional staff was a daunting task.
After touring many facilities and interviewing their administrative staffs, we found Emerson House. We were pleased to discover your facility was built around many years of research into dementia/Alzheimer's research. A tour of the building revealed a place that gave a feeling of peace and tranquility. Not only was each room clean and well-kept, but, the décor gave a sense of calm and evoked memories of an era Mom could definitely relate to.
Our choice to move Mom into Emerson House was the best decision we could have made. Your staff has welcomed her into your community with kindness and compassion. She is always treated with respect and dignity. Her days are spent doing activities that not only enrich her life but also help her memory. She herself has expressed how wonderful the staff is and of her fondness for the activities and the activities director.
The idea of moving Mom into an assisted care facility was a difficult decision for us. We all felt the pressure of caring for an ill mother and the guilt of not being able to care for her ourselves anymore. The Emerson House staff was there for us, too. You gave the support and reassurance we needed to make the transition as easy as possible for everyone including Mom. You were, and still are, always ready to answer questions or to just talk.
